Yakuza 8, Tekken 8, Star Wars,…: all the Sony keynote announcements – Geeko

During its last keynote, Sony unveiled more than a dozen new games and communicated information on several projects. Recap below.

Tekken 8 (PS5, PC, Xbox Series)

It’s official, Tekken 8 will be the first installment in Namco Bandai’s fighting game series to be released exclusively on next-gen consoles. During Sony’s event, Namco unveiled a first trailer for the game. According to the publisher, all images shown were made with the game’s engine and are taken from the single-player mode. The game will run at 60 frames per second and should introduce some major new gameplay features. The bulk of the work, however, should focus on the aesthetics of the game, which should take a leap forward with the new graphics engine. On the other hand, it will be necessary to be patient before being able to play it, its release not being planned for a long time…

Yakuza 8 (PS5, PC, Xbox Series)

Given the huge success of Yakuza 7, it was obvious that Sega would deliver a sequel. It is now done since the publisher announced during the event of Sony Yakuza 8. The title will retain what made the success of its predecessor with a crazy scenario and turn-based battles. It will also be released on multiple platforms simultaneously.

Yakuza Ishin (PS5, PC, Xbox Series)

Remake of Yakuza Kenzan, the medieval spin-off of the Yakuza series, Yakuza Ishin will immerse you in the middle of 19th-century Japan, in the Kyoto of 1860. The player will embody Sakamoto Ryoma and will have to try to find the assassin of his father to recover his honor. With its dark universe and its radical change of tone, the title will offer a radically different gaming experience. This is also the first time that Yakuza Kenzan will cross the borders of Japan and be translated into English.

Yakuza Dragon Gaiden (PS5, PC, Xbox Series, PS4, Xbox One)

Fans of the Yakuza series will have definitely been spoiled with the announcement of Dragon Gaiden, a new spin-off from the franchise that will fit between Yakuza 6 and 8 and will take up the “real-time” gameplay of the old Yakuza. A radically different approach from Yakuza 7 & 8, which have turned into real tactical-RPGs.

Synduality (PS5, PC, Xbox Series)

Small surprise also on the side of Namco Bandai, which had come to present a new new-gen action game, Synduality. The adventure will take place in 2222, in a world where humans and AI must cooperate to survive xenomorph creatures. The title will be very action-oriented and will incorporate player versus player versus AI sequences. It will also be released on PC and Xbox.

Pacific Drive (PS5, PC)

Pacific Drive is a new exclusive, developed by an independent studio, which takes the form of a survival game in a post-apocalyptic world. To survive, the player will have to organize his garage and go on (dangerous) trips in the outside world, to collect new resources.

Rise of the Ronin (PS5)

The real surprise came from Team Ninja – author of the NiOh games -, who came to present a new PS5 exclusive ordered by Sony. Rise of the Ronin presents itself as an ambitious action-RPG that will be played in open-world, at a time of transition. Japan is indeed on the verge of transitioning to an industrial economy and exposed to a real industrial war. In the shoes of a Ronin, a seasoned fighter, the player will be able to freely explore this universe, and accept new missions that will make him explore this world, full of dangers…
