Windows 11 Build 22000.1041 is rolling out, what’s new? – GinjFo

Microsoft has been offering a new version of Windows 11 for a few hours. This build 22000.1041 is being deployed on the Release Preview channel of the Windows Insider program.

It originates through cumulative update KB5017383. Installing it allows the operating system to upgrade to version 22000.1041. We have several improvements and bug fixes.

One of the highlights is the support for WebAuthn redirect. It allows authentication to applications and websites without a password when using Remote Desktop. It is possible to use Windows Hello or security devices, such as Fast Identity Online 2.0 (FIDO2) keys.

Improvements for the Widgets module are included. Microsoft explains

We’ve added more Dynamic Widgets content to your taskbar with notification badges. When you open the Widgets table, a banner appears at the top of the table. It provides more information about what triggered the notification badge.

As we have indicated several problems have found a solution. For example updating codecs from the Microsoft Store should work fine. A fix targets the operating system’s search service. It is supposed to improve the speed of indexing progress. We also have several fixes for the Edge browser and more specifically its IE mode.
