Video – André Lotterer has fun driving a Porsche 997 GT3 RS 4.0

For its launch, Once Upon A Car started strong. A Ferrari Monza SP2 with more than 800 horsepower, then a car that speaks to me a lot because I saw it drive – or almost – at the 24 Hours of Le Mans: the Porsche 993 GT ClubSport, better known as the GT2.

For this third episode, change of pilot – even if very close to the first 😂 – and change of format, with a video particularly focused on fun and beautiful images. When I saw André arrive with his splendid 2.7 RS, I almost wanted to do a twin test, I thought it was so beautiful. But that will be for next time, I promise.

As surprising as it may seem, André – although an official Porsche driver – had never driven the 997 GT3 RS 4.0, described by many enthusiasts – including its owner – as a member of the GOAT club.

Produced in only 600 copies, it is obviously very close to the racing version. Feeling accentuated by its imposing spoiler and its side deflectors. Forged pistons, titanium connecting rods, crankshaft borrowed from the 911 GT3 RSR, 6-speed gearbox, it is the first production 911 to benefit from a 4-litre engine, which develops 500 hp at 8250 rpm and a maximum torque of 460 Nm at 5750 rpm. Thanks to bucket seats, a front bonnet and front wings in carbon fiber, but also rear windows in composite material, the 911 GT3 RS 4.0 only weighs 1630 kg on a full tank scale.

Results : a weight/power ratio of 2.72 kg/hp, the 0 to 100 km/h shot in 3”9 and a Nordschleife swallowed in only 7’27. André loved it, I hope it will be the same for you!
