This keyboard is also a computer, and it costs very little

MaterialTo date, technology has evolved considerably from previous years, especially in the direction of smart devices such as smartphones, wearables and PCs. This also allowed a miniaturization of the internal components, an aspect which consequently brought other notable advantages. Among the most popular, especially in the PC sector, is the possibility of having ever smaller and more efficient devices. And it is in this context that we show you the latest interesting project to emerge from the Kickstarter crowdfunding platform. We are talking about Abacus, a device offered by Pentaform. As you can see, this is a very particular keyboard because it incorporates a PC. If we see well we can say that it is a mini PC: the keyboard indeed includes, laterally, a box in which we find a processor, motherboard, connectivity modules and memories. In short, everything you need for a working PC.

Speaking of technical specifications, Abacus offers a low-power Intel quad-core processor, an LPDDR3 RAM module, the Bluetooth 4.2 module and the Wi-Fi module compatible with the 5.0 standard. On board there will be Windows 10, while the construction materials come from recycled plastic. In short, it is a keyboard with integrated mini PC certainly valid for navigation, streaming and productivity applications. Animations and video published by the creators of the project show how easily it can be used with screens connected by cable or wirelessly. The data sheet also allows Abacus to be offered at a really interesting amount of financing: we are talking about a requested loan of around € 150 for the basic package with 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of internal storage. While for the model with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage, it takes around 270 €. As usual, in these cases, we reiterate that it is a loan and not a purchase. Kickstarter does not sell products but offers projects to fund. It may also happen that the project does not complete, in which case the product will not be shipped and the funding will be returned.
