The FASFC withdrew several tortilla chips of the AMAIZIN and TRAFO brands from sale and recalled them from consumers because of an excessively high content of tropane alkaloids in corn flour.

This recall follows a notification via the RASFF system (European Food and Feed Rapid Alert System).

It has therefore been decided to withdraw these products from sale and to recall them from consumers.

Description of products:

AMAIZIN brand products

– Product names:

o Tortilla chips Natural (75gr, 150gr, 250gr)

o Tortilla Chips Paprika (75gr)

o Chilli Tortilla Chips (75gr)

o Tortilla chips Nacho-Cheese (150gr)

o Tomato tortilla chips (100g)

– Expiry dates (BDD): all dates between 13/8/2022 and 5/3/2023

TRAFO brand products

– Product names:

o Natural tortilla chips (75gr, 200gr)

o Chili tortilla chips (75gr, 200gr)

o Tortilla chips Nacho-Cheese (75gr)

– Expiry dates (BDD): all dates between 08/15/2022 and 01/09/2023

The products were distributed by several points of sale in Belgium.
