Increases in energy prices affect the cost of almost all products and this is particularly evident in supermarkets. Consumers are paying more and more attention to their purchases.

The Commerce and Services Federation Comeos sees a general increase in sales of the cheapest brands, but does not have overall figures. According to Delhaize, sales of first price brands are up 10% compared to last year.

Confirmation obtained from customers in a supermarket: “For a gouda cheese, I will look at the different brands and choose the one that is the most interesting at that time”, reacts a gentleman.

Two solutions are open to consumers: white goods and promotions. The Colruyt brand receives more and more new customers who come for their white goods. “I tend to look at white labels for standard products and I take advantage of promotions, for example there are promotions on certain products, I’m going to buy more, I’m going to buy four when I wouldn’t have bought four. So we try to adapt our consumption a little according to the prices offered”says another customer.

“I look on the internet, I try to compare prices and I do my best. I look at the promotions, sometimes they are white goods and then there are things that we take a little less often”concludes a lady.
