Ginuwine passed out during a magic stunt gone wrong while working with famed artist Criss Angel, according to the Daily Mail. The “Pony” singer was rehearsing for the American show “Magic With tea Stars” on The CW earlier this week when his underwater stunt knocked him unconscious, reports the British outlet.
Video obtained by the outlet shows the artist R&B holding his breath as he is immersed in a glass cube, before slamming the sides to signal his distress.
Employees surrounding the cube immediately pull the 51-year-old artist out of the box and try to calm him down before he loses consciousness.
A source said an ambulance was called and Ginuwinewhose real name is Elgin Baylor lumpkinwas transported unconscious. He then made a full recovery, the outlet noted.
“It all happened so fast, it’s like he got knocked down in a fight“, said a source. “In the show, he was trying to overcome his fear of being underwater, as he couldn’t hold his breath for more than 15 seconds before attempting the stunt. Although he failed in rehearsals, he still performed the stunt during the show and everyone was in tears.“, added the source.
“Magic With tea Stars,” which premieres Oct. 22, features celebrities training with Angel, 54, in Las Vegas to create magic shows. Angel posted a teaser for “Magic With tea Stars” on his Instagram on Tuesday.
