A few days before the start of the school year, millions of parents, in Belgium but also in France, have or will receive their back-to-school bonus or “school allowance”. On this subject, the declarations of a listener of the radio RTL France make great noise. And even controversy.
In her program, “The listeners have the floor”, Agnès Bonfillon, indeed gave the floor to a certain Ludovic, from Puy-en-Velay. He claims to have done an internship in an Auchan store in the north of France, without specifying which one, and dropped a short sentence that did not go unnoticed: “The day when the alcohol department made the most sales ‘business is not Christmas but the day when the back-to-school allowance was paid,’ he said, provoking the astonishment of the journalist in the studio.
Of course, his words only engage the listener, but these have provoked many reactions and indignation. Faced with a lot of criticism, RTL later clarified that, “according to the latest study available (OpinionWAY for the CNAF/2013), 95% of beneficiaries [de l’allocation, NDLR] bought school supplies. “The comments made by this listener could not be confirmed by RTL. We are trying to obtain more precise data from the CNAF, ”said the private channel.
