Concretely, this reference will be in three capacities: 1, 2 and 4 TB with respectively 1, 2 and 4 GB of DRAM. All will be available with or without a heat sink. These SSDs are based on a home controller and some 3-bit Samsung V-NAND TLC memory. This new controller allowsimprove energy efficiency by up to 50% compared to the 980 PRO. Additionally, the 990 PRO uses a nickel coating on the controller and a “heat sink label” for reliable thermal management.
