It was an open secret for long weeks. Then, OnePlus decided to deliver some information on its new upcoming smartphone. This Wednesday, August 3, 2022, the mystery is completely lifted: the OnePlus 10T 5G was presented at a physical event (the first for the brand since the Covid) in New York.
Performance. This is the word that sums up, on paper, the OnePlus 10T. The Chinese brand wanted to offer an ultra-powerful smartphone that will satisfy gamers but not only. By promising the possibility of opening 30 applications in the background without the slightest slowdown (on the 16GB version of Ram), OnePlus clearly demonstrates its ambitions with its new killer flagship.
To do this, the technical sheet has been neat: the latest processor from Qualcomm (the Snapdragon 8+ Gen1), 16GB of Ram (for the most expensive model), a boosted graphics processor, an improved cooling system, the SuperVOOC fast charge at 150W (we announce a full charge, from 1 to 100% in 19 minutes!)…
But with a phone under 800 euros, OnePlus also had to make concessions. It is the photo part that has been sacrificed on the altar of power. If the smartphone manages with its triple lens (a Sony IMX766 main sensor of 50 MPx, an ultra wide-angle of 8 MPx and a macro sensor of 2 MP), it does not rely on this part to convince. This is clearly not the target targeted by this phone, the absence of the partnership with Hasselblad testifies to this.
We are therefore in the presence of a smartphone made for games and streaming.
We have already had the opportunity to have the OnePlus 10T in hand. And the first sensations are pleasant. If aesthetically OnePlus does not take any risk by taking up the design of its OnePlus 10 Pro, the new green-jade color gives it a certain elegance (and for the most classic, there is obviously a black version). Despite a fairly slippery glass back that takes fingerprints, the grip of the OnePlus 10T is good.
On the screen side, OnePlus breaks the “codes” a bit by offering a full HD + flat screen (as opposed to the semi-curved screens that fitted its phones) of 6.7 inches with an adaptive refresh rate of 120Hz. Inside, we find Oxygen 12.1, OnePlus’ software overlay which is quite refined. The manufacturer also announces three major Android updates and four years of security updates.
It now remains to be seen, over several weeks, what the smartphone will be able to do and if the promises are kept.
We will offer you a complete test on Sudinfo.be of the smartphone in the coming weeks.
