VSIt’s a business that keeps on growing. While multiple charges have been collected and an investigation against PPDA is already underway, two new complaints have been filed against the former presenter this September.
They concern rape and sexual assault. Another accusation of rape was addressed to the public prosecutor, “in charge of the second preliminary investigation in the case”, as reported by Liberation, which collected the testimony of the three women concerned.
These are authors, or at the time, privileged targets for Patrick Poivre d’Arvor, long very influential in the world of publishing. And in all three cases, these legal actions will not be able to give rise to prosecution, because of the limitation periods.
The French daily also underlines “the question of complacency” put forward by the alleged victims. And for good reason, the behavior of PPDA was well known to his professional entourage.
One of them, the author and journalist Bénédicte Martin filed a complaint in Paris on September 12. She denounces facts dating from November 2003, which would have taken place in the office of the former presenter of JT. She explains her approach by the desire to serve the cause of other women, but also “for the sake of consistency”. According to Liberation, when she announced her aggression at the time of the facts, “the seriousness of the act” was “evacuated”. And for her, this lack of reaction suggests that it would be akin to an “inaugural gesture”, “a baptism or a dubbing”.
