Microsoft event on October 11: it’s time for new Surfaces

MicrosoftOver the past few weeks, several glimpses have emerged of Microsoft’s plans for its Surface lineup. According to many rumors, in fact, the house of Redmond intends to present a series of products in the coming months, including Surface Pro 9 , Surface Laptop 5, Surface Studio 3 and even an unreleased Surface Laptop Gaming , but now we maybe we have a date. Leaker WalkingCat has indeed published a Tweet in which it arouses our curiosity, indicating that on October 11 at 12:00 p.m. Eastern Time (6:00 p.m. CET), Microsoft will organize an event during which it will make an important announcement . While previously some outlets have suggested September 22 (the day of a Surface event) as a possible occasion for an announcement, this Tweet appears to be fueling anticipation for the new date. It’s hard to anticipate Microsoft’s plans, but there really is a lot of new stuff on the plate.

Surface Pro 9 is one of the most probable and anticipated devices. The computer should arrive in a version with 12th generation Intel processors, a new cover with more colors, a version with 5G connectivity (for the first time) and, possibly later, also in an ARM version with Snapdragon Custom 8cx Gen3 SoC, dubbed Microsoft SQ3. From a design point of view, it should not receive major updates, but all options are on the table, also considering the possible introduction of the ARM variant.

Surface 5: The latest generation of the popular Surface Laptops should instead be available in two flavors, Intel and AMD. On the Intel side, there was talk in February of two processors: Core i7-1280P and Core i5-1240P, while on the AMD side things are getting really interesting with the new APUs Ryzen 6000 Rembrandt, Ryzen 7 6980U and Ryzen 5 6680U 6C with Zen3+ and, more importantly, RDNA 2 architecture on the GPU side.

SurfaceStudio 3: Microsoft’s all-in-one PC, despite its limitations and low circulation, has truly shaken up the industry, with cutting-edge design and futuristic solutions. It seemed to be at a standstill, but new accessories that appeared on the net have revived hopes and it is possible that an update – now expected – will be announced.

Surface Gaming: This is one of the most unexpected products and it could be one of the most interesting surprises from Microsoft. A few days ago the alleged full technical specifications were leaked, which talks about a laptop with a 16-inch screen, an Intel Alder Lake H-series processor (Core i7-12800H and Core i5-12500H) and a GPU NVIDIA (4GB GeForce RTX 3050 Ti and 8GB GeForce RTX 3070 Ti).
