This is a rather amazing anecdote that Lara Fabian shares in her book entitled “Everything”. The singer of Belgian origin recounts having lived at the age of 18 a memorable “cooked” on a plane after a separation.

In her book “Tout”, published by Libre Expression last September, Lara Fabian recounts, among other things, her youth. The Belgian confides in a hidden love affair with one of her competitors at Eurovision.

Already disappointed to finish in fourth place in the competition, the then 18-year-old singer will be especially saddened by a breakup, which occurred a few months later, with the one she thought was “the man of her life”. “A married man who had children. A cub and another unborn. This boy, twelve years older than me, bassist and singer, represented his own country at Eurovision the same year”, reveals Lara Fabian.

A breakup on Valentine’s Day

The idyll continued after the show, leading the singer to join her lover in secret in Dublin on several occasions. But after several months of liaison, the man named Roy put an end to it, despite “feelings which seemed really sincere”. One February 14, Valentine’s Day, he brings the young singer back to the airport and puts her on a plane to Brussels. “It was the last time in my life that I saw him. Ryanair staff witnessed the worst Bailey’s bender ever taken by an 18-year-old passenger in-flight.”

As Gala reveals, in the pop group “Jump The Gun”, representing Ireland at Eurovision 1988, was Roy Taylor, singer and bassist, who would correspond to the clues given by Lara Fabian in her book.
