In 27 years, Johan Heeren has seen customers parade through Multiland Handy Home, his DIY store located in Hasselt. A brand that has become famous thanks to the knowledge of the manager, even if he puts the light above all on the customers. “My store has continued to grow only because of them,” he told the Nieuwsblad.

Now 75 years old, the man has yet made the most difficult decision of his life: Multiland Handy Home will close its doors at the end of this year. Proof that the shop was hugely successful, the news came as a shock to regulars. “Now that they know I’m quitting, a lot of customers are panicking. They wonder where they will go when the store closes”

But let them be reassured, as the manager explains, all is not over. “There are still so many things in my warehouse that I think I can sell online for another year or two, without a store afterwards,” he says in the columns of our colleagues.

If Johan had to close up shop, it was because he had no one to take over. However, another brand will take over the premises: Horta-Tuilt.
