September 17 is the day everything changed for Anoop. This father residing in southern India has the winning ticket for the Loto that day: he thus pockets 3.2 million euros. A fortune in his country of origin, rather well done since this professional driver had to go to Malaysia to treat his sick son.
But things didn’t take the turn that Anoop had expected following this victory at all… “I was so happy when I won, there were cameras all over the house, we were so happy…”, he confided to the BBC, which tells the story. But wealth makes many people around him jealous… “I wish I hadn’t won. Now I can’t leave my house, I can’t go anywhere. My son is sick and I can’t take him to the doctor.” And for good reason: in front of his home, people are waiting for him to leave to extract money from him. A real nightmare for Anoop and his family, especially since the latter has not yet received the money. “No one seems to understand it, even though I’m just repeating it…”
Anoop will receive management lessons to manage his new assets but has obviously not had recourse to a psychological unit or help from the Loto. From now on, the winners had to flee the family home to an undisclosed location…
