Generally, artists of such renown only stay a maximum of two evenings in a row, like Ed Sheeran who performed as recently as the end of July at the King Baudouin stadium, but this time it’s different! Coldplay, which had announced that it would stop touring internationally for environmental reasons, finally decided to make a more sustainable world tour by combining its concert dates on the same weekend. Between two concerts, it is therefore quite natural that the group chose to stay in a prestigious hotel.
In video, here is how to reduce your carbon footprint in your food:
A stone’s throw from the Grand-Place, the crowd has been full for several days and for good reason; the news spread like wildfire: the group Coldplay has been staying at the Amigo Hotel since Friday. It is one of the first prestigious hotels to have opened in the capital, and countless stars have stayed there during their stay in the capital. From Prince to Nicole Kidman via Jean Dujardin, Beyoncé and Jay-Z, Steven Spielberg, Serge Gainsbourg, Hugh Grant, Harry Styles, Bono or even Benoît Poelvoorde and Virginie Efira. In another register, politicians also like to stop there, like Nicolas Sarkozy or Angela Merkel.
Its major asset? Its central location since it is installed behind the Town Hall, next to the Grand-Place in the heart of the capital. And then, without a doubt, the elegance and intimacy offered by each of the suites. Artists can therefore enjoy the view of the historic alleys of the city center, while enjoying the contemporary decor and which often pays tribute to many Belgian artists. Thus, some suites display, for example, reproductions of Magritte, plates of Tintin signed Hergé. The suites range from 28 square meters to 60 square meters, the largest of which have a living room separate from the bedroom where you will find sleek, ultra-design furniture. For even more comfort, it is also possible to stay in suites with very specific themes. The Presidential suite, which measures 110 square meters, immerses us in the world of Magritte, from fabrics to decorative objects, everything has been thought out down to the smallest detail. As for the Grand-Place suite, it offers a breathtaking view over the roofs of the city and the town hall, listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is 180 square meters. Finally, unconditional Tintin fans can immerse themselves in the world of Hergé by opting for the suite dedicated to him. From the wallpaper to the bed linen, including the cushions, bath towels, and even in the decoration, everything is reminiscent of Tintin and his faithful acolytes.
In addition to the exceptional comfort offered by the Amigo hotel, it also inspires many artists. For example, Charles Aznavour wrote his mythical song “I already saw myself” there in a single night. Who knows, maybe after a stay in the hotel, the Coldplay group will also come out with new compositions in mind.
The address? Vruntstraat 1/3, 1000 Brussels. More info here.
