After his retirement was announced on Twitter, Vince McMahon also sent some nice words to WWE employees. Several American sources such as Fightful were able to obtain the email sent by the former WWE President to the destination of the Superstars a few hours before SmackDown.
“To All WWE Superstars,
Approaching 77 – am I really that old? -, I feel like it’s time for me to retire as Chairman and CEO of WWE. I loved sharing my passion, wisdom and my love of business with you. You will no longer see the soothing, smiling, docile, level-headed presence in the Gorilla every week. Your dedication to WWE will ensure that we continue to grow and prosper. Our structure is nothing without you, you are WWE’s only natural resource, chosen to perform in front of a global audience. You are all WWE Global Ambassadors. Carry the WWE flag wherever you go and bust your ass doing your best as a person and an artist. I will not be with you, but I will watch you. Do not forget to warn you, to hold on and to sell (the catch, double meaning sentence in English, editor’s note). SmackDown airs tonight at 8 p.m.
Over the years, it’s been a privilege to help WWE bring you joy, inspire, delight, surprise and always entertain you. I would like to thank my family for having contributed enormously to our success, also to all our Superstars and current or former employees for their dedication and passion towards our brand. Most importantly, I’d like to thank our fans for allowing us into your home each week and being your choice of entertainment. I give thanks and have the deepest admiration for our generations of fans around the world who have loved, love today and now and then love our form of sports entertainment. Our global audience can take comfort in knowing that WWE will continue to entertain you with the same enthusiasm, dedication and passion as always. I am extremely confident in the continued success of WWE, and I leave our company in the capable hands of an extraordinary group of Superstars, employees and leaders, especially Chairman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and Co-CEO Nick Khan. As majority shareholder, I will continue to support WWE in any way I can. I personally thank our community and business partners, our shareholders and our Board of Directors for their guidance and support over the years. Then. Now. forever. Together. (Before. Now. Forever. Together., editor’s note) >>
