Here are Tibi’s tips and recipes for making your own cleaning products

With these “homemade” products, you can save space in your cupboards, produce less waste and save the cost of a range of multi-purpose products. Here are Tibi’s three favorite recipes.

1. The multi-purpose cleaner

Fill a liter bottle 3/4 full with lukewarm water. Add 1 tablespoon of baking soda, 10 drops of essential oil (lemon, pine or lavender).

Close the bottle and shake vigorously. Completely fill the bottle with water and attach a label to it before storing.

2. A homemade dishwashing product

Pour 100ml of eco-friendly dishwashing liquid into a 500ml bottle.

An old, empty dish soap bottle can do the trick. Add 5 drops of essential oil (lemon for example) and a tablespoon of baking soda. Pour water to 4/5 of the bottle before shaking to dilute and mix the ingredients. The ecological dishwashing product will clean and degrease the dishes while the baking soda will strengthen its action.

3. Toilet gel

Pour 40 ml of water and 500 ml of white vinegar into a saucepan before boiling. In a bowl, dilute 4 tablespoons of potato starch or corn starch in 60 ml of water. When the water with vinegar begins to boil, pour the contents of the bowl into it, mixing with a whisk. Stir for a few seconds on the heat then leave to cool. In another bowl, mix 40 ml of vinegar and 12 to 20 drops of essential oil. Pour this mixture when the “freeze” of the pan has cooled. Mix one last time and transfer everything to a labeled recycling bottle.
