Lhe price of 95 petrol will drop by 5.3 cents on Tuesday to reach 1.86 euros per litre. A drop which is however far from competing with that which will take place in September in France where gasoline will drop to 1.50 euro.
To achieve this price, the French government has put its hands in the wallet and will grant a reduction of 30 centimes per liter (18 currently), which will be combined with a gesture from TotalEnergies.
And in Belgium? The government can lower excise duties, recalls Olivier Neirynck, technical director of the Belgian Federation of Fuel and Fuel Dealers (Brafco), interviewed by RTL. “We still have a margin to reach the European excise floor below which we cannot go. It can be done in 24 hours,” he explains.
