Frogwares announces a remake (and a sequel) of its game pitting Sherlock Holmes against Cthulhu – Always For Keyboard

Back to basics for Frogwares! The Ukrainian studio has announced a new project, building on both the past and the future. This is a remastering of Sherlock Holmes: The Awakeneda game released in 2006… but not only.

Because this new version will also serve as a sequel to Sherlock Holmes Chapter One, another adventure of the British detective available since last year. This large hybrid project will of course include modernized graphicss, but also gameplay changes as well as new content, in order to stick to the whole story. On its website, the Ukrainian developer specifies that it is a ” dark, Lovecraft-inspired story mixed with a Sherlock Holmes game taking on its first big deal“.

And all this is no coincidence: this project is a direct consequence of the war in Ukraine. Last February, Frogwares and several studios expressed their support for the country invaded by the Russian Federation, both financially and morally. And don’t forget, Fogwares is also based in Ukraine; it is for this reason that its teams have decided to resume a story already established, and build the rest on top of it. Producer Denys Chebotarov explains: We always wanted to remaster this game, but the war forced us to do it now“. The tragic situation at the doorstep of Europe therefore makes it difficult for many studios to materialize projects that were already well established. We will remember in particular GSC Game World which, last June, published a powerful video on the current situation.

So let’s hope that everything goes well for Frogwares and the employees of the studio, and that they can lay a sequel/remake for us at the height of their ambitions !
