Don’t bury the Fiat 500X just yet! After more than 10 years in the catalog, it will be replaced in 2025 by the Fiat 600. The latter will also take over from the Fiat Tipo. Half urban SUV, half compact sedan, it will clearly change gear. Discovery.
Integrated into the giant Stellantis, Fiat will draw on the shelf the e-CMP platform – that of the Peugeot 2008 among others – to build the replacement for the 500X SUV. The latter launched in 2014 then restyled twice, in 2018 then in 2021, with on this occasion the arrival of a convertible variant, comes from the Jeep Renegade with which it shares its FCA Small Wide technical base. The new version will see things big with a larger size, characterized by a stretch of 15 cm bringing its length to around 4.40 m.
Fiat 600: the replacement for the Tipo too
The underlying idea being for the 500X replacement to kill two birds with one stone. First, take over from this 500 that has gone into adventurer mode. Second, replacing the Fiat Tipo by also becoming the compact sedan in the range. Indeed, the chic retro look of the 500 appeals much more than that of the Tipo, with a style quite close to the achievements reserved for distant markets (Asia, South America) and whose surname no longer evokes much except that is to the owners of the first opus launched at the end of the 1980s… and again.
With this in mind, the Fiat 500X will become the Fiat 600, a number clearly indicating this format change which was introduced in 1965 by the Fiat 600 (type 100) see our photo gallery. An industrial logic that will also be shared by the Jeep Renegade, the next version of which will grow in order to leave a little free field to the “baby” Jeep, named Avenger. In the meantime, the arrival in concession of this Fiat 600 by 2025, the 500X will resist and thus justify its makeover of last year.
A more family thermal and 100% electric model.
This Fiat 600, the name is not yet official, will thus be more roomy and will offer more loading volume. with a very studied price positioning like that of the Citroën ë-C4, C4 and C4-X which straddle the B and C segments. Fiat will switch to 100% electric in 2030, also while waiting for this watted shift, partially electrified thermal proposals will complete the Fiat 600e with two potential candidates for petrol blocks, the 1.2 PureTech from PSA or the 1.5 Firefly from Fiat.
