Felix of Denmark celebrates his 20th birthday at Cayx Castle

Youngest son of Prince Joachim and the Countess of Frederiksborg, Felix of Denmark celebrates his 20th birthday on July 22, 2022. The young man leads a discreet existence in Copenhagen, between debut in modeling and discovery of the maritime environment.

His face stands out in the distance in the aisles of Copenhagen airport. An imposing photo of him is displayed at the entrance to the Georg Jensen store. After a brief stint in the army, Felix joins the ranks of Maersk

While waiting for future proposals in fashion, Prince Felix cut his teeth at the Danish giant Maersk, whose head office is located along the canals in Copenhagen. He joined the shipowner’s ranks as a trainee at the start of 2022, after having abruptly stopped his military training at the Slagelse officers’ school, just two months after his admission. “The prince’s reasons are considered private and the royal family does not wish to comment further on this decision,” the court said in a brief statement issued in October 2021.

Denmark’s Felix seems to have found some stability in his professional future since then. “There is a very good team spirit. The people are so nice. I was pleasantly surprised,” he confides in the columns of Billed-Bladet. “It’s a pleasure to be here, I’m learning a lot,” adds the prince about his experience at Maersk.

If he leads a life out of sight, Felix of Denmark does not miss an opportunity to show his affection and support for his grandmother, Queen Margrethe II. Last December, he was present alongside his aunt, Crown Princess Mary, and his cousins, Prince Vincent and Princesses Isabella and Josephine, for the premiere of Snow Queen. The Danish sovereign, an accomplished artist, has indeed designed the costumes for this ballet produced on the stage of Tivoli, the large amusement park nestled in the heart of the Danish capital.

A moment of pride and emotion for the young man who appreciates Margrethe’s creativity. “It’s also very nice to be with our grandmother,” Felix from Denmark told Billed-Bladet. “I remember painting Easter eggs with her a few years ago. It’s great fun to be able to let your imagination run wild with her,” he adds.

In January 2022, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the Queen’s reign, the prince joins the entire Danish royal family for a surprise dinner in honor of his grandmother, at Christian VII Palace, Amalienborg. A reunion that Felix of Denmark savors since they allow him to see his father Joachim, his mother-in-law Marie, and his half-brother and sister Henrik and Athena. All four live in Paris and the time spent with them is precious for the young man. They are reunited again in April during the confirmation of Isabella from Denmark before packing their suitcases together at the Château de Cayx in mid-July.

The family property of Margrethe II, located in the Lot, is always the scene of happy moments during the summer period. Quoted by the magazine Se og Hør, the secretary of Prince Felix’s mother, Helle von Wildenrath Løvgreen, suggested that the young man would soon join Prince Joachim. “Prince Felix celebrates his birthday abroad with his father,” she said earlier this month.

Recently single, the brother of Prince Nikolai indeed accompanies his mother-in-law, Princess Marie, to the inauguration of the exhibition dedicated to his grandmother, on July 15, at the Henri-Martin museum, in Cahors. Title Margrethe II of Denmark, artist-kidneye, it highlights the creations made over the years by the sovereign. His father Joachim and his half-brother and sister, Henrik and Athena, are also present for the occasion. Together, they take the opportunity to admire Margrethe’s works and talent.

This July 22, the day of Prince Felix’s 20th birthday, the riders of the Tour de France are preparing to pass a stone’s throw from the property of Margrethe II, during the 19th stage linking Castelnau-Magnoac to Cahors.

Like his cousins ​​in Copenhagen, on July 1, the young man could thus encourage the peloton of the Grande Boucle. As a symbol, this step highlights the precious heritage of Felix of Denmark and underlines the unique bond that unites his family to France.
