On October 7, the Walloon government announced that distribution network operators (DSOs) would be invited to return their profits to consumers. The symbol would have been strong. But the network managers nipped the initiative in the bud.

MBut what has stung the Walloon government? On October 7, at the end of a long budgetary conclave, the PS-MR-Ecolo team announced “a contribution from the distribution network operators (GRD) and (large producers of renewable energy) to reduce the bill of energy”, by the voice of Philippe Henry (Ecolo), Minister of Energy.

Clearly, the DSOs will pay their bonuses to consumers. Good news at last ? Alas no: a few days later, the balloon is already deflating.
