His suitcases packed, Dimitri goes with his family to Charleroi airport on July 25, a few hours in advance, to go on vacation in Sicily. His flight scheduled for 4:55 p.m. with Comiso as destination does not seem to have any delays or problems.

But when boarding, nothing goes as planned: “It’s always a bit of a fear to fly with Ryanair given everything that’s going on at the moment”, he confides to us, “but a priori, there was no problem”. “We had been on the plane for 15 minutes and there, we quickly realize that many people are still standing”. And for good reason, there are no more seats on the plane!

The captain then takes the floor to announce that 106 people have boarded, but the plane only has 98 seats… “We were stuck like that for an hour, the people who had no place remained standing “. Unthinkable (and impossible) to take off in such conditions.

What particularly shocked Dimitri, who warned us via the “alert us” button, was that Ryanair did not communicate anything further to this incident. “We were just warned that the plane originally scheduled for our flight had just arrived and that we were therefore going to disembark and board again on another plane. We all went down to the tarmac, we stayed outside, it was hot, we didn’t have a glass of water, and it lasted a long time. The delay was absolutely incredible. They transferred our suitcases, then we were able to get on the plane, and we took off more than two hours late”.

Dimitri doesn’t understand why the company booked them a plane that wasn’t supposed to be theirs: “What were they expecting? To top it off, “there was no word of apology from the crew, who acted as if nothing had happened throughout the flight. »

Once they arrived at their destination, and given the delay, many people had to find solutions to get to their destination, because there were no more taxis! A trip that Dimitri will remember for a long time.

Ryanair did not comment.
