One more royalty will now sleep in the Château de Saint-Donat this year! Countess Leonore of Orange-Nassau, daughter of Prince Constantijn of the Netherlands and niece of King Willem-Alexander, is returning to UWC Atlantic College in Wales. Her cousin Alexia, the king’s second daughter, is finishing her last year there, in the same class as the Princess of Asturias.

King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands is a former student of UWC Atlantic College. He attended this school located in the small town of Llanwit Major, Wales, from 1983 to 1985. The school is located in Saint Donat’s Castle, a huge building whose foundations date back to the 12e century. UWC, for United World Colleges, is a school group that includes 12 schools around the world.

In 2020, Princess Elisabeth of Belgium, heiress to the Belgian throne, obtained her international baccalaureate at this same school. At the following school year, another heiress, Princess Leonor of Spain, joined the school. The daughter of King Felipe VI is in the same class as another princess, Princess Alexia, second daughter of King Willem-Alexander. Leonor and Alexia will return next Tuesday.

A few days before the official start of the school year, new students were already invited to join the school this Wednesday, August 31. Surprised, Countess Leonore of Orange-Nassau was among the new students who attended the information sessions. The Countess, who turned 16 in June, is the third and last child of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien. She was previously studying at the Maerlant Lyceum in The Hague.

Prince Constantijn’s first daughter, Countess Eloise, is studying at a hotel school in Amsterdam and she is also an influencer. Count Claus-Casimir, the only boy of the siblings, has just graduated from the Gordonstoun boarding school in Scotland. Count Claus, who is also the only grandson of the former Queen Beatrix, is joining the university this year. He is enrolled at the Ecole Supérieure de Commerce in Paris. It is therefore now up to Countess Leonore to leave The Hague and the family nest. Constantijn and Laurentien will find themselves alone at home.

The information has not been confirmed by the family, but Countess Leonore published an Instagram Story where we see her on a lawn with other students and she indicated the castle of Saint-Donat as the location. A source close to the family confirmed to the specialized site All Things Amalia that Leonore had indeed joined this school.

Countess Leonore is 7th in line to the Dutch throne. She is one of four members of a European royal family to bear the first name Leonore or a variant. Among the other carriers of this first name, there is Princess Leonor of Spain, who like her studies at UWC Atlantic College. There are also Princess Eleonore of Belgium and Princess Leonore of Sweden. The children of Prince Constantijn and Princess Laurentien bear the title of Count and Countess of Orange-Nassau. Leonore is also Lady of Amsberg, a title inherited by the descendants of Beatrix’s husband, born Claus von Amsberg.
