Be wary if you bought between August 5 and September 19, compotes of the Repère brand “Douceur du verger” in a Leclerc supermarket. The retail brand is recalling batches marketed between these dates, sold in small pots of 16 cups. Note that only products bearing the additional code 06 or 08 following the barcode are affected by this recall.

These compotes may contain patulin, “beyond the regulatory limits”.

Patulin is a mycotoxin, a substance produced by microscopic fungi, which can present “a health risk in the event of significant and repeated consumption over the long term”, warns Rappel Conso.

According to ANSES (the National Health Security Agency), it can cause “gastrointestinal disorders with ulcerations, distensions and haemorrhages, even disturbances of renal function, at higher doses”.

The authorities call for “no longer consuming” the product and “returning it to the point of sale” in order to obtain a refund.
